RIL chairman says India will not lag the world in technology infrastructure as AI reshapes growth
Artificial intelligence will be a central driver of India’s next phase of economic growth, and the country must embrace it without fear, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, said, likening the AI moment to the Industrial Revolution that reshaped global productivity.
“We shouldn’t be scared of AI. It is exactly like when the Industrial Revolution came—humanity moved forward, and productivity moved further,” Ambani said, highlighting AI’s potential to unlock scale, efficiency, and long-term growth for India.
Calling AI a transformative force, Ambani said India’s digital depth, population scale, and rapid technology adoption give it a structural edge over many advanced economies.
“AI is real, and from an India point of view, it is hugely advantageous,” he said, noting that India often adapts new technologies faster than the developed world.
Ambani stressed that India is building the infrastructure needed to fully capitalise on the AI shift. “We are not going to be behind the world when it comes to technological infrastructure,” he said.
He added that India’s AI-led momentum is already being recognised globally. “The world is taking notice of India. We are now setting the foundation for many, many decades,” Ambani said, expressing confidence that technology-driven growth will allow India to outpace much of the global economy in the years ahead.
