The BSE Sensex rose 370.74 points, or 0.44 per cent, to 83,951.14 at 9:19 am. The index opened at 84,177.51 and touched an early high of 84,314.68, after closing at 83,580.40 in the previous session.
Indian equities opened the week on a buoyant note, with benchmark indices extending gains in early trade amid buying in banking, metals and frontline blue chips.

The NSE Nifty 50 also traded firmly above the 25,800 mark. At 9:22 am, the index was up 115.65 points, or 0.45 per cent, at 25,809.35. It opened at 25,888.70 and hit a high of 25,922.25 in early deals, with the day’s low placed at 25,795.95.
State Bank of India led the gains on the Sensex, soaring over 6 per cent to ₹1,130.50. Titan rose 1.21 per cent, while Tata Steel gained 1.07 per cent. Kotak Mahindra Bank, HCLTech and Adani Ports were also trading nearly 1 per cent higher.
