Indian equity markets opened modestly higher on Wednesday, led by gains in banking, pharmaceutical, and select IT counters.

Among Sensex stocks, Titan surged 1.81% to 4,344.20, Eternal gained 0.81 per cent, and M&M added 0.69 per cent. Tech Mahindra (+0.49 per cent), SBI (+0.45 per cent), and NTPC (+0.42 per cent) also contributed to the early rally.

On the downside, HDFC Bank slipped 0.27 per cent to 929.55, Bharti Airtel dropped 0.21 per cent, and BEL fell 0.15 per cent.
