Ross Ewing from landowners organisation Scottish Land and Estates said: “This is a significant and practical step from the Scottish government which we strongly welcome.”
The Cairngorms National Park Authority said helicopters were an “essential resource”.
It added: “We welcome this move, which will help safeguard lives, communities and our natural heritage.”
Last month, Scotland’s chief fire officer called for an improved, more formal approach to wildfire prevention in order to “protect lives”.
In an open letter, chief officer Stuart Stevens said he had commissioned a formal debrief on the incident and called for government, public services, land managers, businesses and communities to work together to reduce the growing threat of wildfires.
He described wildfires as “dynamic, unpredictable and dangerous”.
He warned that they posed an increasing and changing risk and could not be addressed through emergency response alone.
