A Foreign Office spokesperson told the BBC: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Germany [and] are in touch with the local authorities.”
The 31-year-old ran the London Marathon in 2022 in aid of the Milton Keynes-based Spinal Injuries Association, having undergone three spinal operations herself.
She was also a member of Thame Runners in Oxfordshire, which said it was “deeply saddened” by her death.
In July, she and her clubmates were part of the winning women’s team at the Waddesdon 5k in Buckinghamshire.
“She will be remembered with great affection by the many members who knew her, ran alongside her and shared in her love of running,” the club said.
Tributes were also paid by the joint masters of the “Bicester Hunt with Whaddon Chase”, where she was a secretary.
They said: “Becca was a vital and much-loved part of our hunt, both as a dedicated secretary and as a dear friend to so many.
“Her loss is being felt deeply across our entire community, of which she was such an integral part. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
