A 56-year-old man from Moray has gone missing in Rome on the first night of his holiday, his fiancée has said.
Colin Scott had just arrived in the Italian capital with partner Anabella Mcallister, when he disappeared up a side street near the Pantheon at about 22:00 on Friday evening.
Posting on social media, Mcallister said Scott, from Elgin, had become unsteady due to his medication and the heat, and did not have his phone or wallet with him.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said it was supporting the family of a British man missing in Italy and was in touch with the local authorities. BBC Scotland News has contacted Italy’s state police for comment.
In her post, Mcallister said: “He was in a bit of an unsteady state due to medication and heat.”
She said that as she stopped to take a photograph, her fiance went up a side street but by the time she had followed him he had disappeared.
“He has no phone or wallet with him and probably forgets the name of the hotel,” she said.
“What was meant to be a dream holiday has turned into a nightmare.”
